ALERT: After much reflection and consideration, McAllen ISD is cancelling all classes for Wednesday-Friday (February 17-19, 2021) this week.
With growing reports of families experiencing power outages, water and fuel shortages already numbering in the thousands, McAllen ISD made this decision with the best interests of the community in mind as many families are struggling with these challenges.
At this point, McAllen ISD plans to return to normal operating procedures on Monday, February 22, 2021.
Any McAllen ISD families needing hot spots for connectivity may pick them up Wednesday (5-6:30 p.m.) at McAllen ISD Central Office (2000 N. 23rd St.).
For meal services, please refer to the McAllen ISD meals page for updated meal locations at this link:

Varsity athletic events for this week will run as scheduled.
A limited number of employees may be needed to respond to facility and other issues. Information regarding work schedules will continue to be shared with them by their supervisor.

Con crecientes informes de familias que experimentan cortes de energía, escasez de agua y combustible que ya se cuentan por miles, McAllen ISD tomó esta decisión teniendo en cuenta los mejores intereses de la comunidad, ya que muchas familias están luchando con estos desafíos.

ALERT: The District is receiving reports that there is a high probability power outages will continue throughout the night and tomorrow (Wednesday, February 17, 2021).
Therefore, McAllen ISD will be extending 100% remote instruction through tomorrow. At this point, our plan is to return to normal operating procedures on Thursday, February 18, 2021.
If your child is experiencing connectivity issues because of this, we understand. Rest assured that we will be flexible with his/her assignments during this time. Any McAllen ISD families needing hot spots for connectivity may pick them up TODAY (1:30-4 p.m.) or Wednesday (5-6:30 p.m.) at McAllen ISD Central Office (2000 N. 23rd St.).
Meal services will resume tomorrow, February 17, at select curbsides and bus routes. Please refer to the McAllen ISD meals page on the web for updated meal locations for February 17 at this link:

📶 We sincerely hope you are staying warm and safe and that you and your family are well. We know many of you are without electricity, others without water, and some without internet. For those who can benefit from a hot spot, we will be distributing these devices at Central Office TODAY (Tuesday) from 1:30 to 4p.m., and tomorrow (Wednesday) from 5p.m. - 6:30. These devices work on the same signal as your cell phone. They do have a partially charged battery and will need to be recharged like a cell phone. However, you will get at least a few hours of connectivity with the charge they have. These are available for student use, like other school-issued devices, must be returned to the school. To pick one up for your child, please come by the Central Office parking lot (23rd and Tamarack) during the scheduled times. There is no need to leave your vehicle, we will bring the hot spot out to you. Please have your student's ID number ready.

“Students/teachers without power will do asynchronous (off line) assignments. Communication will occur through text, phone and class dojo for assignments. As long as assignments are submitted by 11:59pm tonight, students will get credit for the day.”
